Good coverage on the slopes that have a snowmaking base.

Thursday morning featured some much-needed fresh snow in northern Vermont. I was keeping an eye on the forecast and I skied in the morning on December 19. I hit it pretty well!

There were about 3 inches of new snow at the base and up to 6 inches near the top of the Quad and Gondola at Stowe Mountain Resort. The snow was nice and dense. It made for some soft turns.

Toward the end of the morning, the skiers had cut up a lot of the fresh stuff. In some high-traffic spots, the hard-packed snow underneath became evident.

We've got cold temperatures in the forecast, which is good for continuing the snowmaking to open up more terrain at the ski areas. And we might see a bit of snow to start the weekend.

If you go out to ski on Sunday, bundle up and cover up all your skin. It will be cold!

Check the snow conditions and weather forecasts before you head out. We've got links to the NWS in Burlington and Albany, as well ask direct links to the snow reports at Vermont ski resorts and Vermont Nordic ski centers.

Enjoy!
