National Weather Service color-coded map calling for 6 or more inches across Vermont

Snow forecast from National Weather Service, Burlington, Vermont. Issued Sunday, January 16, at 6:20 a.m.

I think I have a problem. I keep hitting refresh on the Burlington, Vermont National Weather Service winter weather page. I think I'm addicted to it!

There is a reason for this, of course. We want to know how much snow is coming to us on Monday, January 17! The colors on their snow storm total forecast have been shifting around like a lava lamp.

Luckily, this morning the yellow (6+ inches) and orange (8+ inches) are back over northern Vermont, with darker orange (12+ inches) painted along the spine of the Green Mountains. With the snow starting soon — in the wee hours of Monday morning — I feel more comfortable about this forecast.

High winds are forecasted as well. Check the ski area website before you head to the hill.

We really need the snow. Bring it on!
