Skinning and turning in the sunshine — oh, yeah!

Here are a few shots from a lovely midday skin today to the top of the Timberline area at Vermont’s Bolton Valley Resort. The ski area is now closed so if you want to make use of their left-over manmade snow, you gotta earn your turns!

Part way up we came to an elevation line above which all the trees were white with thick rime. The white rime was gorgeous against a deep blue sky! As we ascended, the sun was trying its hardest to melt the rime off the trees, and it was succeeding.

We hung out atop the Timberline lift for quite a while. The sun was terrific and the views were pretty great, too. We took our time on the way down and enjoyed making turns in soft corn snow on the Sure Shot and Timberline Run trails. This was just what the doctor ordered after a week of work and a sinus cold!
