Fluffy powder over a slick base today at Stowe

Powder on Liftline!

Fluffy stuff in the glades.

Riding the new six-person chairlift.

Snowy summit of Mt. Mansfield and the gondola.

The Over Easy gondola and Smugglers Notch.

Lotsa fun today skiing in light, fluffy powder at Stowe Mountain Resort!

We were in line at the quad when it opened at 8 a.m. That afforded us some powder turns on trails like Liftline, Nosedive and Centerline. Stowe reported about five inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, and 19 inches over the previous week.

We also enjoyed the rather deep snow in a variety of gladed areas. Good stuff!

As the morning wore on, you had to practice those edging skills on the slick, frozen base that was uncovered. My eyes were always scanning for pockets of powder to plow through.

It was a gorgeous, sunny day to be on the hill. I like seeing more snowflakes in the forecast, too!
