Day two of earning turns this weekend

— Backcountry skiing, Bolton Valley

I must admit: I am exhausted after a second day of earning turns this weekend!

The Skimeister and I ventured into the Bolton backcountry trails at midday on Sunday. There were quite a few other people on the Nordic and backcountry trails as well. Great minds think alike!

We skinned up to 3000 feet in elevation. Up there the trees were coated in snow and ice. When the wind blew, you heard some clanking as the tree branches bumped into one another.

We skied in about six inches of new snow, which was over a crusty base. Definitely not as deep as Saturday's outing, but still a bunch of fun.

While rays of the sun tried hard to peek through during our ascent, it actually snowed quite hard when we took off our skins and donned our helmets for the descent.

Judging by the packed nature of the Bryant trail, the popular "up" route, you could tell it had been a busy weekend at Bolton. Seems that we're all celebrating the recent snow. Let's hope it continues to add up!
