Welcome, winter!

After a week of work it felt great to get out into the quiet woods!

I took my waxless skis with three-pin bindings and did a mellow ski tour on the Bolton Valley Nordic trails. At around 1700 feet in elevation, I skied in about four inches of snow on top of a mostly frozen ground. I had to step over a half dozen wet waterbars. Otherwise I enjoyed gliding through the ungroomed snow.

The alpine trails at the ski area were bustling, but I had the trail to myself.

The temperatures were very comfortable at midday after a week of cold. The chilly weather has been great for snowmaking at the ski resorts, however. Thank goodness for snowmaking!
