Here are a few photos from midday today on the Nordic trails at Bolton Valley. We read that Bolton had received a couple inches of fresh snow recently and that they had groomed the Nordic trails. We were two of the first skiers out on the corduroy-covered trails.
The coverage was good, but you can tell it's rather thin. At times I could hear my poles click on ice below the snowy surface. But since there was hardly any traffic on the trails, it was very good! We both used our waxless, metal-edged touring skis because we wanted to be able to handle any ice, fast hills or rough patches that we would encounter on Maple Loop.
With the fresh snow on the sides of the trails you could see deer tracks and tiny mouse tracks. The deer actually seemed to like walking on the groomed surface of Broadway, too.
With the added benefit of bright sunshine and spring-like temperatures, we had a great cross-country ski in the woods. Now we turn our attention to baking for Christmas!
